FIX: Export procedure fails when you export a 64-bit SSRS 2008 R2 report or a SSRS 2008 report that contains multiple levels of a document map to the PDF format

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 fixes in one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or SQL Server 2008 update release.

Consider the following scenario:

• You have a report in a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services (SSRS 2008 R2) 64-bit instance or in a a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services (SSRS 2008) instance.
• The report contains multiple levels of a document map.
• You try to export the report to the PDF format.

In this scenario, the export procedure fails and you receive the following error message:Additionally, the following error is logged in the SSRS log file:


Notes

• You can still render the report in the HTML format successfully.
• This issue does not occur if SSRS 2008 R2 is installed on a computer that is running a 32-bit operating system.

This issue occurs because of a limitation of the SSRS PDF renderer.

The fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 8 for SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 2.
