Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a table that has partitioned indexes in Microsoft SQL Server 2008, in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 or in Microsoft SQL Server 2012.

  • The schema of the table is changed, and new partitions are created after the schema changes.

  • You try to run some DML statements against the table.

In this scenario, an access violation might occur.

Status

Workaround

To work around this issue, rebuild all the partitions for all the indexes after the schema is changed.
