Summary
This article describes the issues that are fixed in the Microsoft Word 2010 hotfix package that is dated October 30, 2012.
INTRODUCTION
Issues that this hotfix package fixes
-
When you drag an attachment to a Microsoft Office 2010 email message, the file name extension is duplicated. If you then drag the attachment from that email message to another email message, the file name extension appears in triplicate. The pattern continues as you drag the attachment more times.
Note Outlook 2010 uses Word 2010 for both the rendering engine and the composition engine. -
Assume that you have a .doc file that is protected by Information Rights Management (IRM) and that is password-protected. When you open the file in Word 2010, the file opens in Protected View. Additionally, the following text is displayed on a red message bar:
Office has detected a problem with this file. Editing it may harm your computer. Click for more details.
-
Assume that a damaged document contains some errors and some text boxes. Additionally, assume that the document was created by using a specific template. When you use Word 2010 to open the document, Word 2010 freezes.
Note When you use Word 2007 to open the damaged document, Word 2007 does not freeze. However, a Show Repairs dialog box appears. -
Assume that a content control in a Word 2010 file contains another content control that is locked for editing. In this situation, you can unexpectedly change the format of the content in the locked content control.
-
Assume that you add a hyperlink to a shape in a Word 2010 document that is rights-protected (for example, the document is read-only or is marked as final). When you press Ctrl and then click the shape, the content that the hyperlink links to does not open.
-
Consider the following scenario:
-
You open a document that contains some comments and a shape at the bottom of a page in Word 2010.
-
You select the Force Landscape option in the Track Changes Options dialog box.
-
You scale the document to print on a piece of paper whose size is larger than the document itself.
In this scenario, the shape is not displayed in the printout.
