FIX: An out-of-memory error occurs when you run a DAX query against a tabular model in SQL Server 2012 Analysis ServicesArticle ID: 2693568 Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2012 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2012 fix release. On This PageSymptomsAssume that you run a Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) query against a tabular model in Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Analysis Services (SSAS 2012). The DAX query contains a calculated measure that has many nested IF conditions or a Switch command that has many cases. In this situation, an out-of-memory error may occur. CauseThis issue occurs because the DAX engine generates an inefficient query plan for the calculated measure. The query plan includes redundant joins for the calculated measure. ResolutionCumulative update informationSQL Server 2012The fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 1 for SQL Server 2012.
