Introduction

This article describes an update that adds Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 client support to Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012.

After you install this update, you can install the Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 client on a computer that is running Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012.

Note This update only applies to Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 clients that are integrated with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007.

Resolution

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Client update

This update includes a new version of the Forefront Endpoint Protection Configuration Manager deployment package. For more information about how to deploy the client update, see the "Installing FEP 2010 Update Rollup 1" TechNet article that is described in the "References" section.

The Forefront Endpoint Protection deployment package installs the FepInstall.exe file that is listed in the tables earlier in this article. FepInstall.exe contains several .msi files, which are listed in the following tables. The English version of these packages has the file attributes that are listed in the following tables:
