Symptoms

When you try to add your Facebook account on Windows Phone 8, you receive an error message with a specific error code during sign in:

We’re having trouble adding Facebook. Make sure you have good reception. If you do, the problem may be on the other end. Wait a little while and try again.

Account verification

These errors may occur if you have a new Facebook account and you either haven't yet verified your email address, or you're signing in from a different locale than the one your Facebook account was created in.

To fix this problem, follow these steps:
  1. From a computer, sign in to Facebook.
  2. If you receive any prompts, verify your email address or account location.

Note Facebook might ask to send you an email with an account verification link at the email address you signed up with. You will have to complete all the Facebook account verification steps before you can add your Facebook account to Windows Phone.

After you complete these steps, try to signing in to Facebook from your phone again. Here's how:
  1. On your phone, go to Start, flick left to App list, tap Settings

  2. Tap Add an account, and then tap Facebook. Enter your Facebook email address and password, and then tap Sign in.

Sign in approvals

This error might occur if you have turned on Login Approvals via SMS. To fix this problem, follow these steps:

  1. From a computer, sign in to Facebook.
  2. On the upper-right corner of the page, click or tap the downward pointing arrow next to Home, and then click or tap Account Settings.
  3. ln the column at left, click or tap Security.
  4. Click or tap Edit, located next to Login Approvals.
  5. De-select Login Approvals for your Facebook account. (You can go back and change this setting later.)
  6. Sign in to Facebook on your Windows Phone 8 again.
  7. If you want, you can return to the Login Approvals page and select this option for your Facebook account.
After you complete these steps, try to signing in to Facebook from your phone again. Here's how:
  1. On your phone, go to Start, flick left to App list, tap Settings
