Latest updates for versions of Office that use Windows Installer (MSI)

INTRODUCTION

Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Office 2013. This update provides the latest fixes for 32-bit and 64-bit editions of Office 2013 and Office Home and Student 2013 RT. Additionally, this update contains stability and performance improvements.

Issues that this update fixes

  • Assume that you use Microsoft OneDrive for Business to sync documents to a SharePoint document library. When you open an Office file in OneDrive for Business, the Office 2013 status bar shows "Connecting to OneDrive" incorrectly.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You save an Office file (such as an Excel workbook) to a Microsoft OneDrive Location.

    • You share the file to a user together with the "can edit" permission by using the Invite People feature.

    • The user receives an email message that contains a link to the shared Office file.

In this scenario, when the user clicks the link to open the shared file from inside Outlook 2013, the associated Office 2013 application is opened instead of Office Web App. In the example that is described in this scenario, when the user clicks the link to the Excel workbook, Excel 2013 is opened instead of Excel Online. The user cannot edit the file by using Excel 2013.

  • Consider the following scenario:

    • You use the OneDrive client or the OneDrive for Business client to sync some documents.

    • You delete the FSD files that are located at %localappdata%\Microsoft\Office\15.0\OfficeFileCache.

    • You click Sync to sync the documents.

In this scenario, when you open the OneDrive folder from the OneDrive client or the OneDrive for Business client, the file size of the documents is now 0 bytes, and they cannot be opened.
