Summary

Prior to May 2013 it was possible to create a US and UK HealthVault account using the same sign-in. If you have received notification that you are currently using the same account sign in for two HealthVault accounts - one at healthvault.com (HealthVault US) and one at healthvault.co.uk (HealthVault UK), please select one of the following choices to resolve the situation. Thank you.

If you want to use a different sign in for HealthVault US (account.healthVault.com)




After you take these steps, your current sign-in credential will be used to sign you in to HealthVault UK, and a new sign-in credential will be used to sign you in to HealthVault US.

  1. Make sure you have a credential (such as a Microsoft account, Facebook account, or OpenID) that is different from the one you’re currently using with HealthVault. But DO NOT SIGN IN WITH IT yet.

    If you need to make a new Microsoft account:

    1. In a new tab or window visit http://live.com, click Sign up now, and follow the steps to create an account.

    2. Sign out of the account you just created.

  2. Sign in to https://account.healthvault.com using your current HealthVault sign-in information.

  3. Click Your account at the top of the page.

  4. Click Add or edit sign-in information.

    Please note: Please make a note of the existing credential name shown here, so that you can remove the correct one in step 7. (The credential name shown in HealthVault may not be the same as your credential account user name.)

  5. Click one of the buttons under Add more ways to sign in to this account.

  6. Sign in with the credential you wish to use for HealthVault US.

  7. After the new credential is added, click Remove next to the old credential.


Now, when you sign in at HealthVault using the old credential, it will sign you in to your account at account.healthvault.co.uk (HealthVault UK) and you’ll see the information in that account. When you want to sign in to account.healthvault.com (HealthVault US), use the credential you just added.

If you want to use a different sign in for HealthVault UK (account.healthVault.co.uk)


After you take these steps, your current sign-in credential will be used to sign you in to HealthVault US, and a new sign-in credential will be used to sign you in to HealthVault UK.

Now, when you sign in at HealthVault using the old credential, it will sign you in to your account at account.healthvault.com (HealthVault US) and you’ll see the information in that account. When you want to sign in to account.healthvault.co.uk (HealthVault UK), use the credential you just added.

If you want to close the HealthVault US account and use HealthVault UK

After you take these steps, your HealthVault US account will be closed. (You might want to take these steps if you accidentally created a HealthVault US account or your HealthVault US account has little or no data in it.)

If you want to close your HealthVault US account and continue to use HealthVault UK, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to HealthVault at http://account.healthvault.com.

  2. Please make sure the URL you see in your browser’s address bar begins with https://account.healthvault.com.

  3. Click Health information on the left side of the page and make sure that there is no health information in this account that you want to save.

    1. If you do have information you want to save, export it to CCD format. Instructions for exporting are in the HealthVault Help. Please note that CCD export may not include all the data in your account.

    2. If you have documents in the Files section that you want to keep, download them to your computer.

  4. When you’re ready to close this account, click Your account in the top navigation, then at the bottom of the page click Close account. Follow the steps to close your account.

Next time you sign in to HealthVault, you will be signing in to your HealthVault UK account. If you wish to import any of the information you exported in step 3, click Health information in the left side of the page and in the I want to menu choose Upload a file. You can add CCD files and other documents using this feature.

If you want to close the HealthVault UK account and use HealthVault US

After you take these steps, your HealthVault UK account will be closed. (You might want to take these steps if you accidentally created a HealthVault UK account or your HealthVault UK account has little or no data in it.)

If you want to close your HealthVault UK account and continue to use HealthVault US, please follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to HealthVault at http://account.healthvault.co.uk.

  2. Please make sure the URL you see in your browser’s address bar begins with https://account.healthvault.co.uk.

  3. Click Health information on the left side of the page and make sure that there is no health information in this account that you want to save.

If you want to keep using the same credential for both account

You may keep using the same credential for both HealthVault US and HealthVault UK, but we don’t recommend it because it can be confusing to you and because you may see unexpected behavior in apps you use with HealthVault.
