Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You enable the database mirroring solution for a database in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
  • You change the file growth settings of the database.
  • Failover occurs from the primary database to the secondary database.

In this scenario, the metadata of the file growth settings is updated incorrectly in the sys.master_files catalog view in the secondary database. This may cause the size of the database file to grow unexpectedly.

Note You expect the file growth settings in both sys.database_files and sys.master_files catalog views to be updated accordingly.
