Summary

This article describes update 2863821 for Microsoft Office 2010 that was released on November 6, 2018.

Be aware that the update in the Microsoft Download Center applies to the Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2010. It doesn't apply to the Office 2010 Click-to-Run editions, such as Microsoft Office 365 Home (see Determining your Office version).

Improvements and fixes

This update makes some changes for the Japanese calendar in Office 2010 so that the new Japanese era name can be displayed correctly when a new era begins. Additional updates may be required for Office applications because of expected changes in the Japanese era. We will update this article as necessary.

Note To apply these changes, you have to install the November 6, 2018, update for Office 2010 (KB4461522) together with this update.

How to uninstall this update

Windows 10

  1. Go to Start, enter View Installed Updates in the Search Windows box, and then press Enter.

  2. In the list of updates, locate and then select update KB2863821, and then select Uninstall.

Windows 8 and Windows 8.1

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then select Search.

  2. If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then select Search.

  3. Enter windows update, select Windows Update, and then select Installed Updates.

  4. In the list of updates, locate and then select update KB2863821, and then select Uninstall.

Windows 7 and Windows Vista

  1. Go to Start, enter Run, and then select Run.

  2. Enter Appwiz.cpl, and then select OK.
    Select View installed updates.

  3. In the list of updates, locate and select update KB2863821, and then select Uninstall.

Windows XP and Windows Server 2003

  1. Go to Start > Setting > Control Panel.

  2. Select Add or Remove Programs.

  3. In the menu to the left of the newly opened window, select Change/Remove Programs and then select the Show updates check box.

  4. In the list of updates, locate and select update KB2863821, and then select Remove.
