Introduction

This article describes the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1, which is a highly compatible, in-place update to the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 and the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.

On the Microsoft Download Center, the .NET Framework 4.5.1 is available for Windows 8, Windows RT and Windows Server 2012. On Windows Update (WU) and on Windows Server Update Service (WSUS), the .NET Framework 4.5.1 is only available for Windows Server 2012.

On Windows Update, the .NET Framework 4.5.1 for Windows Server 2012 will be offered as a Recommended update.

Notes

  • On Windows Update, a Recommended update may be installed automatically on all supported platforms, based on your computer settings.

  • On Windows 8, you can also install the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1 by upgrading your computer to Windows 8.1.
