This article describes update KB2920754 for Microsoft Office 2013 that was released on March 10, 2015. This update also applies to Office Home and Student 2013 RT. This update has a prerequisite.Please be aware that the update in Download Center applies to Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2013. It does not apply to the Office 2013 Click-to-Run editions such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine?).

Improvements and Fixes

Fixes the following issue:

Assume that you create an Office document that contains ActiveX controls. After you install Microsoft Office 2013 December 9, 2014 security update, when you try to insert an ActiveX control into the document, you may receive a "Cannot insert object" error message, and the ActiveX control is not inserted. Additionally, the existing ActiveX controls in the document are not enabled. For example, when you click a command button that is associated with a Click event, the Click event is not triggered.Important For this fix to be fully effective, you also have to apply the other patches for Office 2013 that are listed in the "Resolution" section of the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

  1. Start an Office 2013 application, such as Microsoft Word 2013.

  2. On the File menu, click Account.

  3. For Office 2013 Click-to-Run installations, an Update Options item is displayed. For MSI-based installations, the Update Options item is not displayed.

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. If you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.

  2. Type windows update, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click View installed updates in the search results.

  3. In the list of updates, locate and then tap or click update KB2920754, and then tap or click Uninstall.

Windows 7

  1. Click Start, and then click Run.

  2. Type Appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.

  3. Click View installed updates.

  4. In the list of updates, locate and then click update KB2920754, and then click Uninstall.
