Summary

This security update resolves a Microsoft SharePoint Server remote code execution vulnerability. To learn more about the vulnerability, see Microsoft Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures CVE-2021-42294.

Note: To apply this security update, you must have the release version of Microsoft SharePoint Server 2019 installed on the computer.

Improvements and fixes

This security update contains fixes for the following nonsecurity issues:

  • Fixes an issue in which a document library in the Modern UI view is blank if the URL contains Unicode characters.

  • Fixes an issue in which the rich text editor toolbar disappears in a Firefox browser if the text input is large.

  • Fixes an accessibility issue to make sure that the aria attributes are allowed for an element's role in the New item pane in the list.

  • Fixes an issue in which the color of the top navigation bar no longer changes together with the main theme of your site.

  • Fixes an issue in which the Group By menu in a document library is not localized in the Modern UI.

Note: To fix these issues completely, you have to install KB 5002054 together with this update.
