Error message when you try to install Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006: "Internal Error 2908"

Symptoms

When you install Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006, you receive the following error message:

Cause

This problem occurs because Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 has become corrupted.

Resolution

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.

2. In Add or Remove Programs, click Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, and then click Remove.
   
   Note If "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Hotfix (KB886903)" appears as an entry in the list of currently installed programs, click this entry, and then click Remove.

3. Restart the computer.

4. Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.

5. Install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.
   
   Note If you do not have Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 or Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1, you can obtain them by visiting the Web sites that are mentioned in the "References" section.

6. Restart the computer.
