The Help and Support feature stops working when Dreamweaver is configured as the default XML editor on a Windows Vista-based computer

You install Adobe Dreamweaver on a Windows Vista-based computer. Additionally, you accept the option to make Dreamweaver the default editor for XML files. In this scenario, Windows Vista Help and Support stops working. When you try to run Windows Vista Help and Support, you receive the following error message:
Internet Explorer cannot download / from windows. Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later.
You may also receive an error message that states that Windows Vista cannot find the file when you try to open XML files in the Windows Vista file browser.
CAUSEWhen you configure Dreamweaver as the default XML editor, this creates a conflict with Windows Vista when you try to open an XML file. RESOLUTIONWarning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk.Adobe has created a registry fix that resolves this issue. To install this fix, follow these steps.
Registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\.xml Registry value: xmlfile Content type: text/xml MORE INFORMATIONDreamweaver 8 was released more than a year before Windows Vista became publicly available. Therefore, Dreamweaver 8 does not officially support Windows Vista. The next version of Dreamweaver will be certified to run on Windows Vista. This version is expected to be released in 2007.
