Windows Media Player cannot load the content from certain URLs after you enable the "Use proxy settings of the Web browser" option
On This PageSYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario:
For example, in Internet Explorer, you add *.server to the Exceptions list in the Proxy Settings dialog box. However, Windows Media Player may unexpectedly bypass Web sites whose URLs contain the following: *.server* *.server.* When Internet Explorer accesses these URLs, it uses the proxy server as expected.
CAUSEThis issue occurs because of an error in Windows Media Player. After you enable the Use proxy settings of the Web browser option, Windows Media Player uses the proxy settings that are configured in the Web browser. However, Windows Media Player uses a unique algorithm to parse the Exceptions list of the Web browser.
