How to back up and restore the registry in Windows To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- Copy the following text, and then paste it into a new Notepad document:

- On the File menu, click Save
As.
- In the Save as type list, click All Files (*.*).
- In the File name box, type
RenameFolders.reg, and then click
Save.
- Close Notepad.
- Double-click the RenameFolders.reg file, and then click
Yes.

confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. Then, click OK.
- Right-click the RenameFolders.reg file,
click Delete, and then click Yes.
- To verify that the automatic fix worked, try to rename a folder:
- Right-click a folder that you want to rename.
- In the drop-down list, click Rename.
- Enter a new name in the highlighted space underneath the folder.
- Press Enter.
- If the computer renames the folder, the problem is fixed, and you are finished with this article.
