A memory leak may occur in the nonpaged pool memory on the Windows Server 2008-based terminal server when you log on to and log off from a Windows Server 2008-based terminal server through an RDP connection

When you log on to and log off from a Windows Server 2008-based terminal server through a Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) connection, a memory leak may occur in the nonpaged pool memory on the Windows Server 2008-based terminal server.

This issue causes a decrease in the performance of the computer. This issue may even cause the computer to stop responding (hang) if you log on and log off many times. If you use the System Performance Monitor tool (Perfmon.exe) to monitor the system memory, the tool shows a consistent increase in the nonpaged pool memory usage.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
