Symptoms
In the Application log on a computer that is running Microsoft Dynamics AX Application Object Server (AOS), you may notice the following error message:
RPC error: Client provided an invalid session ID X

In this error message, X is a placeholder for the actual session ID.

This error message indicates that the AOS server is completing ordinary clean-up of client connections.
Resolution
To resolve this problem, you have to shut down the Microsoft Dynamics AX client, and then restart it. This will create a new connection to the AOS server that will have a new session number.
More Information
This error message indicates that the AOS server was running and that users were logged in to the Microsoft Dynamics AX client. Then, the AOS server crashed and was restarted. After the AOS server was restarted, a user of the Microsoft Dynamics AX client that was running when the crash occurred tried to communicate with the AOS server. Because the AOS server was restarted, it does not recognize the existing client connection or the session that the client is trying to use.
