Symptoms
When you soft-reset a Windows Embedded CE 6.0-based device that has credentials in the registry, you receive an error message that resembles the following in the Debug output window:
4294772248 PID:1a8000a TID:13a000e OSAXST1: >>> Loading Module 'credprov.dll' (0x889B3E14) at address 0x40500000-0x40506000 in Process 'udevice.exe' (0x88B4F564)

Failed, error=123 4294772307 PID:1a8000a TID:13a000e CREDSVC: LoadVProviders: There are no virtual type providers present. This problem occurs when you perform the following actions in the Target Device Connectivity Options window of the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 platform builder:
-
You select the Only if image changed option.
-
You clear the Clear memory on soft reset check box.
Cause
This problem occurs because the Credential Manager allocates and frees memory for each credential in a loop when there are credentials in the registry after you soft-reset a device. However, the Credential Manager does not set the pointer to NULL. Then, the pointer is freed again before the Credential Manager exits the loop.
