FIX: The memory usage of a SQL Server service increases quickly when you run a query that uses a linked server in SQL Server 2005 or in SQL Server 2008Article ID: 971622 - View products that this article applies to. Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 fix release. After you run the stored procedures many times, you may find that the memory usage of the SQL Server service increases quickly. Additionally, the various error messages related depletion of memory in the MemTolLeave address space may be logged in SQL Server 2008 errorlog file. Note You may also experience this issue when you use replication, log shipping or mirroring. These features may use stored procedures that use a linked server. CAUSEThis issue is caused by a memory leak that occurs when you run a query that uses a linked server. The leak occurs when you call a remote stored procedure. There are two kinds of potential leaks:
