Article ID: 973588 - Last Review: September 22, 2009 - Revision: 1.0 FIX: You receive various error messages when you open a SQL Server Reporting Services report whose data source uses the HTTP protocol to connect to SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 fix release. On This PageSYMPTOMSYou have a SQL Server Reporting Services report whose data source connects to Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services. The data source uses the Microsoft ADOMD.NET data provider together with the HTTP protocol for the connection. When you open the report by using a nonadministrative account, you may receive various error messages based on the credential setting of the data source in the Report Manager. Credential setting 1The data source is configured to use the Windows integrated security option. In this case, you receive the following error message:An error occurred during client rendering. An error has occurred during report processing. Query execution failed for dataset '<DataSet Name>'. The connection is not open. Credential setting 2The data source is configured to use the Credentials are not required option. In this case, you receive the following error message:The current action cannot be completed. The user data source credentials do not meet the requirements to run this report. Either the user data source credentials are not stored in the report server database, or the user data source is configured not to require credentials but the unattended execution account is not specified. CAUSEWhen you open the report, the data source of the report connects to SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services by using the data source credential. After the connection is established, successive requests to SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services do not reuse the data source credential. Instead, successive requests use the credential of the current user. This causes the problem that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. RESOLUTIONSQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1)Important You must use this fix if you are running SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 (SP1).The fix for this issue was first released in Cumulative Update 4 for SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1.
