Support for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) ends on July 12, 2011. To continue receiving security updates for Windows, make sure you're running Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 (SP2). For more information, refer to this Microsoft web page: Support is ending for some versions of Windows.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You connect a computer to an IEEE 802.1X authenticated network through an 802.1x enabled device, such as a Voice over IP (VOIP) telephone.

  • You put the computer into hibernation (system power state S4) or into sleep (system power state S3).

  • You resume the computer.

In this scenario, the computer does not reconnect to the same authenticated Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN). Instead, the computer connects to an isolated network. Note This issue does not occur if you directly connect the computer to an 802.1X-enabled switch.
