SYMPTOMS

You add a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Mailbox server role into an existing Exchange Server 2003 organization. This organization has a Hebrew Organization name. In this scenario, you cannot move a mailbox from an Exchange Server 2003 server to the Exchange Server 2010 server. Additionally, you find the following event is logged in the Application log:

Source: MSExchange Mailbox Replication
Event ID: 1006
Level: Warning
Description:
The Mailbox Replication service was unable to process mailbox move requests in a mailbox database. Database: Mailbox Database <ID> Error: MapiExceptionUnknownUser: Unable to open message store. (hr=0x80004005, ec=1003)

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service cannot log on to the Exchange Server 2010 system mailbox. This is because the LegacyExchangeDN property of the system mailbox has "/o=” as a part of the Hebrew Organization name.
