Description of the security update for Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Service Pack 1: July 28, 2009
You try to deploy a minor upgrade for the Visual C++ 2008 SP1 application. In this scenario, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
SELMGR: ComponentId <GUID> is registered to feature <feature name> , but is not present in the Component table. Removal of components from a feature is not supported!
This problem occurs after you install the security bulletin because some component IDs that the application contains are missing in the updated merge modules (.msm files).
Hotfix information A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that this article describes. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
