Terminal Services performance counters report an incorrect number of sessions when a heavy load situation occurs in Windows Server 2008 R2 or in Windows Server 2008Article ID: 982303 - View products that this article applies to. On This PageSYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario:
Note When the actual number of active sessions is 0, the Active Sessions counter returns 4294967295. This value represents a value of -1. CAUSEThe issue occurs because of a race condition in the Local Session Manager (Lsm.exe) process. When the race condition occurs, the performance counters are not updated when a Remote Desktop Services session is disconnected. This behavior causes that the number of active sessions to be one less than the actual value. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft.
