The computer screen dims after you log on to resume a computer from hibernation in Windows 7
Consider the following scenario:
You have a computer that is running Windows 7. You configure the computer’s power button so that it can be used to hibernate the computer. You change the Password protection on wake up setting so that the Require a password (recommended) option is selected. The computer enters hibernation. You press the power button to resume the computer from hibernation. You are prompted to enter your user account credentials. The computer enters hibernation again while you are trying to log on. You press the power button to resume the computer from hibernation again. In this scenario, the computer screen dims after you log on.
This issue occurs because two threads try to fade out the monitor at the same time.
Hotfix information A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Workaround for Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2 To work around this issue, log on and then log off the computer.
