SUMMARY

This article describes the Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated June 29, 2010.

INTRODUCTION

Issues that this hotfix package fixes

  • In Office Outlook 2007, you use Information Rights Management (IRM) to encrypt an email message. You attach a file to the message. Then, you send the message. In this case, the attachment does not exist in the sent message when you check your Sent Items folder.

Additionally, the message recipient cannot find the attachment in the received message.
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • In Office Outlook 2007, you have a root folder that contains more than 500 subfolders.
    • Each subfolder has at least one subfolder.
    • Your profile is in Online mode.
    • You expand the root folder.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message when you select a subfolder:
Cannot display the folder. Your server administrator has limited the number of items you can open simultaneously. Try closing message you have opened or removing attachments and images from unsent messages you are composing
Additionally, event 9646 is logged on the Exchange server.
  • A meeting attendee attaches a file to a meeting request and then forwards the meeting request to you in Office Outlook 2007. When you try to open the attachment, Outlook 2007 crashes.
  • This hotfix provides a design change. After you install this hotfix, the Secure Temp folder for Office Outlook 2007 is automatically cleared when you exit Office Outlook 2007.
  • After the Outlook mailboxes are moved a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Office Outlook 2007 crashes intermittently.
  • In Office Outlook 2007, the HTML body of a message is blank unexpectedly when you use a rule to move the message to a .pst file that is in American National Standards Institute (ANSI) format. This problem occurs after you upgrade Outlook 2002 to Office Outlook 2007.
  • In Office Outlook 2007, all received email messages are stored incorrectly in the Deleted Items folder.
  • Office Outlook 2007 randomly crashes when you try to print an item.
  • In the MfcMapi tool, you cannot convert an .eml (MIME) file to an .msg (MAPI) file when the .eml file contains a meeting update.
  • Office Outlook 2007 crashes when you switch from the Inbox folder to the Calendar folder.
  • In Office Outlook 2007, you cannot create new items in a calendar that is synchronized with a SharePoint server.
  • You use a POP3 email account to log on to Office Outlook 2007. You receive an email message that has an S/MIME signed message attached. When you try to open the attached message, you receive the following error message:
An error occurred in the underlying security system. An internal error occurred
  • A user cannot create an appointment in a shared calendar folder even though the user is granted Author permissions to the folder.
  • You disable IRM functionality for Office programs. In this case, Office Outlook 2007 crashes when you receive IRM-protected email messages.

Note To disable IRM functionality for Office programs, set the REG_DWORD value for the Disable registry entry to 1. The Disable registry entry is under the following registry sub key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common
  • You may have data loss on meeting update when you use Office Outlook 2007 against Exchange Server 2010. When this issue occurs, the body of the meeting request is replaced by the following text:
One or more problems with your meeting were detected and fixed
  • Instant search returns no results for some queries in Office Outlook 2007.
  • After you install the Office Live Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Outlook, Office Outlook 2007 crashes during startup.
  • If the contents of the profile XML file are deleted, you cannot start Outlook 2007. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the outlook window.
