Help menu or press
Alt + H and then press
A.
If you cannot start Internet Explorer, follow these steps to determine your version:
- Click Start, and then click Run or click Start Search.
- Type or copy and paste the following command in the Open box, or the Start Search box, and then click OK:
cmd /k reg query "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer" /v Version

A Command Prompt window opens and displays the Internet Explorer version in a format that resembles the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer
Version REG_SZ 6.00.2900.2180
The first number after REG_SZ is your Internet Explorer version. In this example, the version is Internet Explorer 6.
