Latest updates for versions of Office that use Windows Installer (MSI)

This article describes update KB2910931 for Microsoft Office 2013 that was released on December 9, 2014. This update also applies to Office Home and Student 2013 RT.

Please be aware that the update in Download Center applies to Microsoft Installer (.msi)-based edition of Office 2013. It does not apply to the Office 2013 Click-to-Run editions such as Microsoft Office 365 Home. (How to determine?).

Improvements and Fixes

Improves Customer Experience Improvement Program logs by including additional diagnostic/trouble-shooting information.

Fixes the following issues:

  • When you try to report the current error in Cache Optics, an incorrect error is reported.

  • You may be unable to co-author an Office document if you change the default program for the file type to a non-Office program.

  • Assume that you connect to a highly secured SharePoint 2013 farm through ADFS, and then you open a document from a document library. The session tokens have a limited lifetime of 10 minutes for security reasons. After some time, the security token expires, and then you cannot save the document to the document library. Additionally, a yellow status bar appears and displays the following information:

Upload Failed - You are required to sign in to upload your changes to this Location. Sign InWhen you click the Sign In button in the yellow status bar, nothing happens.

Note After you install this hotfix package, you can follow the instructions in the "Registry information" section to change the time out behavior.
