Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2 update release.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a table that contains a BIGINT and XML column in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.

  • You set the primary key of the table to the BIGINT column.

  • You try to create a full-text index on the XML column.

In this scenario, an error message that resembles the following is logged in the SQL Server error log:

<Date> <Time> spid# Error: 30045, Severity: 17, State: 53.<Date> <Time> spid# Fulltext index error during compression or decompression. Full-text index may be corrupted on disk. Run dbcc checkdatabase and re-populate the index.

Also, an error message that resembles the following is logged in the full-text search log:

<Date> <Time> spid# Error '0x80fc755d' occurred during full-text index population for table or indexed view '<table or veiw>' (table or indexed view ID '<ID>', database ID '<ID>'), full-text key value '<Value>'. Attempt will be made to reindex it.

Additionally, SQL Server generates memory dump files in the Application log folder.
