Turn Auto Fill on or off

1. Select the File tab and choose Options.

2. Select Advanced on the left.

3. Under Editing options, select or clear the Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop check box.

   

4. Select OK. 

1. Select Excel on the top toolbar and choose Preferences.

2. Choose Edit, and select or clear the Allow fill handle and cell drag-and-drop check box.

   

3. Select   to exit Preferences.

Turning Auto Fill on or off isn't currently possible in Excel for the web. You can, however, turn Auto Fill on or off in the Excel desktop app.

• To open the desktop app, at the top of the ribbon, select Editing > Open in Desktop App.
