How to record an encounter in DAX Copilot for Dragon Medical One
Use PowerMic Mobile with DAX Copilot to capture all conversations during a patient visit.
Important
Always obtain patient consent before recording according to your organization's guidelines. If the patient doesn't consent, you can recap the visit in DAX Copilot after the visit.
How to begin your encounter
- Select the
icon to start a new encounter. - Place your mobile device where DAX Copilot can hear both you and the patient. This placement helps ensure accurate audio capture.
- Select the
icon to go back to the Summaries page if necessary.
Recording controls
- Select the
icon to start or stop recording. - DAX keeps recording even if your phone screen sleeps.
- Select the microphone again to resume recording.
If both you and the patient speak Spanish, toggle Capture Spanish ON before recording.
Note
Your organization's setup determines whether you see the Spanish conversation capture feature. Contact your administrator to request access.
Recording limits
The timer shows your recording duration.
- Each encounter can include multiple recordings, up to a total of 75 minutes.
- For best results, keep recordings under 45 minutes to avoid missing content in summaries.
- Once you start editing, you can't add more recordings to the encounter.
Note
DAX keeps recording even if your phone screen goes to sleep.
How to stop recording
Select the microphone icon
to stop recording. Select it again to record more. The Summary and Transcript update automatically as soon as you stop recording.
- DAX displays a writing message while generating the Summary and Transcript.
- You don't need to wait for the writing to finish. You can resume recording if needed or move on to your next visit.
Important
-DAX Copilot is designed to work with one patient per encounter. If there are multiple patients in the room, such as a parent bringing multiple children, record a separate encounter for EACH patient. -DAX Copilot can handle straightforward visits and complex cases, and it generates well-organized documentation for patients with multiple medical conditions.
App synchronization
The mobile app syncs automatically with the desktop app, so you see the same summary and transcript wherever you open DAX Copilot.
