Symptoms

When you run the New-MoveRequest cmdlet in Exchange Management Shell (EMS) or create a move request in Exchange Management Console (EMC) to move a mailbox in a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 environment, the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Replication service crashes. Additionally, the following event is logged in the Application log:

Log Name: Application Source: MSExchange Common Event ID: 4999 Task Category: General Level: Error Keywords: Classic Description: Watson report about to be sent for process id: ProcessId, with parameters: Paramter, MSExchangeMailboxReplication, mscorlib, M.W.Win32Native.ConvertSdToStringSd, System.AccessViolationException, xxxx, VersionNumber.

Cause

This issue occurs because a System.AccessViolationException exception occurs in replication.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, install the following update rollup:

2891587 Description of Update Rollup 3 for Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 3
