Choose the account you want to sign in with.

To sign in to Microsoft Teams (free), all you need is a Microsoft account. If you already use Skype, OneDrive, Outlook.com, or Xbox Live, then you already have one. If not, it’s easy to create a new Microsoft account.

Sign in to the mini Teams window in Windows 11

If you set up Windows 11 with your Microsoft account, then Chat will automatically be signed in with the same account. If you have multiple accounts on your computer, you will be asked to pick the account you want to sign in with.

If you didn't get signed in automatically, you may be taken through the sign in process.

Note: You cannot use a work or school account to sign in to the mini Teams window in Windows 11. Learn more about using Teams for work or school in Windows 11.

Sign out of the mini Teams window in Windows 11

If you would like to sign out of the mini Teams window or change accounts:

  1. From the mini Teams window in Windows 11, select your profile picture.

  2. Select Sign out, then in the confirmation window, select Sign out again.

If you don’t see the contacts or recent chats list you’re expecting, you may need to change the account you are signed in with in the mini Teams window for Windows 11.

To verify which account you're signed in with:

  1. From the mini Teams window in Windows 11, select your profile picture.

  2. From here you can:

    • Verify the account you're signed in with.

    • Verify My Microsoft account information.

If you need to change the account, follow the steps to sign out of the mini Teams window, then select Use another account and follow the prompts to sign back in.

Sign in to Chat in Windows 11

If you set up Windows 11 with your Microsoft account, then Chat will automatically be signed in with the same account. If you have multiple accounts on your computer, you will be asked to pick the account you want to sign in with.

If you would like to sign out of Chat or change accounts:

  1. From Chat in Windows 11, select Open Teams Teams open Teams in Windows 11.

  2. Select your profile picture.

  3. Select Sign out, then in the confirmation window, select Sign out again.

    • Verify the account you're signed in with.
