You can export journal contents to a OneNote page.
Start an export from one of the following entry points:
1. On the home page, tap the 3 dots on the top right corner of a journal to open the menu. You can export all pages from a journal.
2. In a journal, tap the 3 dots on the top right corner of a page to open the page menu. You can export the page in focus, or all pages from the journal.
3. In a journal, enter selection mode from the side panel. You can export selected pages or cards from the journal.
Once an Export dialog shows up, select Export to OneNote which will bring you to the following:
-
You can choose a OneNote notebook to export to. You can only export to a notebook that has been opened at least once on your device using the OneNote desktop app.
-
In More Options, you can optionally exclude exporting the page background and/or page number. Each page background is set as a background image underneath your content in the OneNote page.
-
Tap on Export to start the export process. Once completed, you can select Open in OneNote, which will directly open your OneNote app with the exported content.
Current Limitations
There are a few known limitations to the export feature:
-
Exported Pencil and Highlighter strokes in OneNote will have a slightly different appearance than in Journal due to file format differences.
-
@Mentions will be exported to OneNote as images. Since OneNote does not support @mentions, you will not be able to access contact details as you can in Journal.
-
Exported content may not support Ink to Text nor Search in OneNote due to file format differences.
-
Images imported from a large image source may appear incorrectly in OneNote, even if they are visible on the page in Journal.
-
Please consider excluding the page background when using Dark Mode in OneNote. OneNote may adjust the visual appearances of ink strokes to show contrast, which makes the ink less legible on Journal's page background.
