In Microsoft Teams (free), you have the option to block a contact, if necessary.

Important: These steps are for Microsoft Teams (free) only. They will not work if you are using Teams with your work or school account. To remove or block a member in Communities in Teams, see Invite and manage community members.

When blocking a contact, they will not be able to:

  • Add you to a one-to-one chat

  • Add you to a new group chat

  • Call you in Teams

  • Add you to a community

Block a contact in a chat

  1. From the Chat tab, tap and hold on the person you want to block.

  2. Tap Block.

Note: If you block someone in one of your group chats, their messages will still be visible in that group. You will need to remove the participant from that group to stop receiving their messages.

Block someone in Communities in Teams

  4. Tap the person you want to block.

  6. You can do one of the following:

    • Tap Block to prevent a member from contacting you. After they are blocked, you won't see their messages and content.
