Record and transcribe calls in Microsoft Teams
You can record and transcribe your calls in Microsoft Teams to keep track of what was said and share it later. Read on to learn how to start, stop, and find your recordings and transcripts.

Your IT admin must allow recording and transcription for your account. This is enabled in the Teams Calling Policy.

Admins can require participant agreement before recording or transcription begins in one-on-one calls.

Everyone in the call will see a notice when recording or transcription starts.
Start recording and transcription in a call

Join your call in Teams.

In the call controls, select More actionsÂ
. -
Select Record and transcribe.

Select Start recording or Start transcription.

Recording saves audio, video, and screen sharing.

Transcription creates a text version of what's said in the call.

Confirm the spoken language for transcription.

Everyone in the call will see a banner that says the call is being recorded or transcribed.

Speak clearly and avoid background noise for accurate transcription.

Confirm the correct language before starting transcription.
Participant agreement for one-on-one calls
If your admin has enabled this setting:

When you start recording or transcription in call, the other participant is automatically muted, and their camera and content sharing are turned off.

The participant will see a prompt asking for consent to be included in the recording and transcription.

Once they agree, they will be able to unmute and turn on their camera.

If the participant doesn't agree, recording and transcription will continue, but they won't be able to turn on their camera or unmute.
Stop recording or transcription

Go to More actionsÂ
. -
Select Stop recording or Stop transcription.
The recording and transcript will process after the call ends. You'll receive a notification when they're ready to review.Â
Find a recording or transcript
After the call, open the Chat for that call. You'll see:

A link to the recording.

The transcript, if you turned transcription on. You can download the transcript as a .docx or .vtt file.
Notes:Â

Only the person who started the recording can share or download it.

Recordings are saved to OneDrive.
-
External participants can’t view recordings unless you share them.
