Symptoms

Assume that you use Visual Studio 2015 in Windows 10 version 1709. When you try to save a file in the editor that belongs to an Apache Cordova, ASP.NET Core Web Application (.NET Core), or Universal Windows Platform (UWP) project with JavaScript, the file either disappears from the project or changes to show a missing file icon.

Cause

Windows 10 version 1709 includes a fix for some file system events. Visual Studio 2015 mistakenly interprets these events as deleting the file.
