On a computer that is running Windows 7, you receive the following error message:
Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not respondingWhen this issue occurs, you cannot connect to Internet.
To troubleshoot this problem, try one or more of the following methods.
Method 1: Restart the router
- Remove the power cord from the router.
- Wait at least 10 seconds after all lights on the router have gone out.
- Reconnect the power cord to the router.
Method 2: Configure the TCP/IP settingsConfigure the TCP/IP settings. To do this, follow these steps:
- Select Start > Control Panel.
- Select View network status and tasks under Networking and Internet.
- Select Change adapter settings.
- Press and hold (or right-click) Local Area Connection, and then select Properties.
- Select Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) > Properties.
- Select Obtain an IPv6 address automatically > Obtain DNS servers address automatically > OK.
- Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) > Properties.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically > Obtain DNS servers address automatically > OK.
Method 3: Use the Ipconfig command-line toolUse the Ipconfig command-line tool. To do this, follow these steps:
- Select Start, type command prompt in the Search Programs and files box, press and hold (or right-click) Command Prompt, and then select Run as administrator.
- At the command prompt, type the following commands. Press Enter after each command. ipconfig /flushdns
