Symptoms
Assume that you use in-memory transactions together with the sp_getapplock system stored procedure in Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or 2017. If you enable server auditing on the SCHEMA_OBJECT_ACCESS_GROUP server-level audit action group, you receive a "Msg 41317" error message that resembles following:
Msg 41317, Level 16, State 4, Line LineNumber
A user transaction that accesses memory optimized tables or natively compiled modules cannot access more than one user database or databases model and msdb, and it cannot write to master.
Resolution
This problem is fixed in the following cumulative updates for SQL Server:
Cumulative Update 13 for SQL Server 2017
Cumulative Update 3 for SQL Server 2016 Service Pack 2
Note: This update also resolves an issue where an unresolved deadlock is seen when create schema command is executed by a user that does not have permissions to create a schema in the database and if SCHEMA_OBJECT_ACCESS_GROUP and SCHEMA_OBJECT_CHANGE_GROUP are enabled in database audit specification.
