Before you can use Authenticator as a way to sign in, you need to download the app and have already added Authenticator to your accounts. Starting July 2025, the autofill feature in Authenticator will stop working, and from August 2025, passwords will no longer be accessible in Authenticator.

As you're getting your Microsoft 365 business subscription set up, you'll want to download and install your Microsoft 365 apps, like Word, Excel, Microsoft Teams, and PowerPoint, on your PC or Mac.

Open the app, go to the app's top-level menu, and then select Send feedback. After that, contact Support or go to the Microsoft Authenticator app forum and explain the problem you're seeing and the steps you tried.

To get around this problem, you can create an auto-generated password to use with each non-browser app, separate from your normal password. Important: Your administrator may not allow you to use app passwords. If you don't see App passwords as an option, they're not available in your organization.
