In Excel, the IF function allows you to make a logical comparison between a value and what you expect by testing for a condition and returning a result if that condition is True or False. =IF (Something is True, then do something, otherwise do something else)

The VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP functions, together with INDEX and MATCH,  are some of the most useful functions in Excel. Note: The Lookup Wizard feature is no longer available in Excel. Here's an example of how to use VLOOKUP. =VLOOKUP (B2,C2:E7,3,TRUE) In this example, B2 is the first argument —an element of data that the function needs to work.

You can create a simple formula to add, subtract, multiply or divide values in your worksheet. Simple formulas always start with an equal sign ( = ), followed by constants that are numeric values and calculation operators such as plus ( + ), minus ( - ), asterisk ( * ), or forward slash ( /) signs.
