How to check if your email is a Microsoft account?

Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page at https://account.microsoft.com and enter your email address. 

Sign in

  • If you see a message that says "That Microsoft account doesn't exist. Enter a different account or get a new one.", then the address you entered is not a Microsoft account. If you believe it should be:

    • Check the spelling of the name and the domain, e.g. rachel or rachael and .com or .co.uk

    • The account may have been closed. Learn more.

  • If you see a password prompt, then your email is a Microsoft account.

How to access your Microsoft account?

If you have confirmed that your email is a Microsoft account, you can access it by following these steps:

  • Go to the Microsoft account sign-in page and enter your email address and password.

  • If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by clicking on Forgot password? and following the instructions.

How to create a new Microsoft account?

If you don't have a Microsoft account, or you want to create a new one, you can follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Microsoft account sign-up page and click on Create account.

  2. Enter your preferred email address, or click on Get a new email address to get a new one from Microsoft. You can choose from @outlook.com or @hotmail.com domains.

  3. Create a strong password and click on Next.

  4. Enter your first and last name and click on Next.

  5. Select your country or region and your birthdate and click on Next.

  6. Enter the captcha code and click on Next.

  7. Verify your email address by entering the code that Microsoft sends to your email and click on Next.
