Email addresses and phone numbers associated with your Microsoft account are called aliases, and they use the same contacts, online storage, subscriptions, and account settings. Your aliases share a single password.
By default, all of your aliases can be used to sign in, but you can block sign-in for certain aliases.
This username has been turned off for sign-in. Try a different one.
If you see the error "This username has been turned off for sign-in. Try a different one." it means one or more of your email account aliases has been blocked from signing in.
To get around the error, use an alias that is not blocked for sign-in.
-
If you are not sure which account the blocked alias is associated with, select Forgot your username? and enter the alias you're trying to use.
-
We'll send an email with a code to the primary alias for that account - check your mailbox to see where the email has been sent and retrieve the code.
-
Once the correct code has been entered, we will display the list of aliases which can be used to sign in.
-
Sign in with an alias which allows sign-in.
