When Scroll lock is off, your arrow keys move you from cell to cell, or when Scroll lock is on, the arrow keys scroll the whole page. To turn Scroll lock on or off, do one of the following:

  • Full size keyboard. Press the ScrLk key, usually in the top row on the right.

  • Fn based ScrLk key. Press Fn+ScrLk, usually on the top or second row of keys.

  • No ScrLk key. It depends on the machine. Try pressing Fn+C or Fn+S.

  • No key or shortcut that works. Press the Windows key, type On-Screen Keyboard, and choose the ScrLk key.

Tip: To see if scroll lock is on, check the left side of the bottom status bar for  Scroll lock status flag. If you know Scroll Lock is on, but don't see it, right-click the status bar and choose Scroll Lock.

If you're looking to lock rows or columns to show when scrolling, see Freeze panes.
