New Outlook for Windows

The new Outlook for Windows doesn't have a File tab on the ribbon like classic Outlook does. Instead, the features you're looking for are located in Settings. To open Settings:

  1. In the upper right corner of the window, select the gear icon .

  2. On the left side of the Settings dialog, select a tab to see the settings related to that subject:

    • Accounts: Add an email account, set up automatic replies, and create a signature.

    • General: Set up language and time preferences, appearance (including dark mode and a color theme)

    • Mail: Choose a message format, create rules, create quick steps, turn conversations on or off, and much more.

    • Calendar: Customize the appearance of the calendar, choose a default reminder time, share a calendar, and much more.

    • People: Choose whether contacts are listed by first name or last name.
