Your app doesn't work with Windows 10

Applies to: Windows 10

We block apps that could damage your PC or cause you to lose data. This sometimes includes apps that worked with a previous version of Windows. If an app won't open after you updated to Windows 10, it probably isn't compatible.

If the app is not a Microsoft app, we recommend checking online for a new or updated version. The website of the app’s originator usually includes guidance about updating.

If you don't find a newer version, you can use the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter. How to make older programs compatible

It’s sometimes helpful to uninstall and reinstall an app that isn't working.

  • If you got the app from the Microsoft Store, find it in the Start  menu, right-click it, then select Uninstall. Select Install to install the app again.
  • If you didn't get the app in the Microsoft store, select Start  > Settings  > Apps. Select an app to see the options. Then, if it's available for the app that isn't working, select Uninstall. Select Install to install the app again.
