Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You install the Microsoft Application Request Routing (ARR) 2.0 or 2.1 module on a computer that is running Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 or IIS 7.5.

  • You enable the External Cache option when you configure the host name affinity of an ARR server farm.

In this scenario, a client may encounter the "502.4" error code for a client request, and then the client receives the following error message:

No appropriate server could be found to route the request.
