FIX: You receive an exception when you try to create an MDS database in SQL Server 2008 R2 MDS if a non-MDS database table is named "tblSystem"

Applies to: SQL Server 2008 R2

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008 R2 fix release.

Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install SQL Server 2008 R2 Master Data Services (MDS) on a computer.
  • You create a table named "tblSystem" in some databases. These databases are located in the same instance of SQL Server that is used for MDS databases.
  • You try to create an MDS database by using the Master Data Services Configuration Manager.
In this scenario, you receive the following Microsoft.MasterDataServices.Configuration.ConfigurationException exception, and the database is not created:
Microsoft.MasterDataServices.Configuration.ConfigurationException: Invalid column name 'ProductName'. Invalid column name 'ProductVersion'. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Invalid column name 'ProductName'.
